Donating money

FreeBMD is exactly that - FREE. We do not make any charge whatsoever for use of the site.
FreeBMD is a registered charity, and our sole purpose is to do this for free!

That doesn't mean that FreeBMD costs nothing for us to run! Big websites with lots of bandwidth cost lots of money.
We estimate that in the current Financial year , FreeBMD will cost at least £60,000 to run (over and above the money that we save through people donating time and effort for free) .

How Does FreeBMD get its money?

AL Digital support us by way of a generous discount on our hosting costs
A grant from Ancestry.com covers a small portion our costs.
Advertising (yes, we know you hate them) covers most of our costs.
Donations from people who would like to support the work of FreeBMD give us the flexibility to invest in taking the work of FreeBMD forward all the faster.
