Our charity is run almost 100% by volunteers: we only have 2 full-time members of staff to support our 1,000+ volunteers who are based all around the world. Without them, we would not have the 500 million records such as those you’re currently seeking!

Our dedicated community of volunteers:

• Coordinates access to images and the transcription projects.
• Has transcribed 500 million records over almost 30 years.
• Manages communities of other volunteers.
• Develops the search engines and software behind all of our databases (3 soon to be 4).
• Supports the background running of the organisation.

Our volunteers do so much for family history, we’re raising £5,000 in pledges in this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge to unlock the match funding, enabling us to improve their volunteering experience.

Don't worry if you'd like to support us with a smaller amount: you can do so easily during the Christmas Challenge campaign later this year.
